The industry news has been buzzing about Taylor Swift’s tour, but refreshingly, not about ticketing irregularities, rabid fandom, or onstage antics. The wonderful story this month was about recognizing the players behind the scenes.

Although Taylor Swift is a solo act, there are hundreds of people supporting her every step of the way. Reports around her camp confirmed that she’s sharing out a reported 50-ish Million Dollars to her massive touring crew, including drivers, stagehands, and everyone else in the nomadic city that takes her down the road to the next sold-out stadium.

Feeling valued in the way of reward and recognition is a tried and true strategy for loyalty and engagement. While the money i’m sure is welcomed, I believe the real magic happens when people are acknowledged for their efforts in a way that is meaningful.

You don’t have to dole out cash. Just a simple “thank you” or “great job” can be super effective. It’s so easy and so missed.
